Our Firm’s Philosophy

 

Rawlings Wilson & Associates is a full service architectural firm created in 1955 when James Scott Rawlings and John E. Wilson joined their practices.  We believe that the most important thing that we can do is listen to our clients. The better we understand our clients’ needs, the more responsive our building designs can be.    Every project is unique, and we approach each one accordingly - a creative solution can be found for any project budget.  The members of our firm stay current with advancements in design and technology while adhering to time honored professional principles.

 

Our Firm’s Partners

 

James T. Rice, AIA, President – Jim has been practicing architecture since 1962.   He joined Rawlings Wilson & Associates in 1975.  Jim is registered in four states and the District of Columbia.  He handles client relations, marketing, contract negotiation and quality control.

 

Elizabeth J. Rappaport, AIA LEED AP, Vice President – Beth graduated from the University of Virginia in 1982.  She is responsible for project design and management, and document production.  As a LEED Accredited Professional, Beth has managed LEED certified projects, including Gold, Silver and Certified Level projects.

 

Paul W. Shope Jr., AIA, Vice President – Paul is a registered architect with a B.Arch. from Virginia Tech.  He has been with Rawlings Wilson & Associates since 1997.  Paul handles design and project management on a variety of projects including churches, libraries, recreational buildings, schools and industrial facilities.

 

Edward L. Todd, Vice President – Ed has been our firm’s construction administrator since 1975.  He is responsible for cost estimating, budget analysis and construction phase services.  He also manages the firm’s business and financial affairs. Ed holds a degree in Building Construction from Virginia Tech.
